It's been a while since I have posted, but I assure you, I have not been idle! I have some big news to share today, and I'm very excited!
As many of you know, we decided to sell our home in Colorado last summer, and make the move to Oregon. We knew exactly 3 people in Eugene when we moved, and very little about Oregon. We just knew that we were past due for a change, and we sure liked the beautiful lush, green area around Eugene and its proximity to the things we love. Could we possibly live in a place that has four distinct seasons, access to the wilderness and incredible waterways, AND the ocean....
well..... yes we could!
Several months ago I started a business which focuses on saving and recreating unwanted vintage and quality furniture. One of the products that I use to achieve this is the van Gogh Fossil (chalk) Paint line.
I have also begun to share my passion and my knowledge with others through workshops/classes taught out of my home studio.
My family has tolerated me taking over the living room, family room, a bedroom, and of course....the garage! Sometimes it's tough, at mealtime, to find a place to sit down and eat because every surface is covered in projects at various stages of completion! Of course I have dreamed (for a very long time) of having my own place where I could interact with people, market my creations, and share my passion on a daily basis....but let me tell you folks....commercial real estate is not cheap!!!
However....
Last week, as I was driving my son to school one morning, I noticed a space for rent and decided...what the heck...I'll just call and check it out. Well...guess what...I was very pleasantly surprised! The rent and terms actually seemed very reasonable...time to talk it over with my partner/husband.
"You'll never know unless you try!"
So here's the news...
French Gypsy Designs is moving out!!!
We signed the lease last night and will start transforming the space into a studio/gallery/marketplace immediately! For now it will be a space where I can create, teach workshops, interact with my customers, and display my work for sale. I hope to be able to bring in the work of other local artists very soon! I am so very grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams and passions in this new space...
It's gonna be GREAT!
Of course, I'll keep you all posted on the transformation with lots of stories and pics....I'm sure there will be many stories! HA!
Until next time...
Varina...The French Gypsy
