Escape to the Pacific Coast

So....it's been foggy here....really, really, really foggy
for what seems like forever

I mean the fog wasn't lifting or burning off AT ALL!
We're talking 24/7!
I was starting to feel like I was in a Sci Fi movie...and wondering if the sun was really up there anymore!

So, we decided to make a break for the coast last Saturday. Well, it didn't take us
long to break out of the fog and we found what we were looking for!
Gorgeous, brilliant, warm sunshine just 15 miles west of town!
Words can't adequately express how wonderful it made me feel!
We hit a couple of small sales along the way, but alas, no treasures to be found.

We took our time driving up the coast, stopping along the way to enjoy the amazing views
at Cape Perpetua .....  "where the forest meets the sea"

and some other scenic points along the way.....

what a breath-taking view!

We worked our way up the coast, stopping for lunch at the Sea Hag in Depoe Bay,
(yummy chowder and fish & chips...a couple of glasses of wine...)
keeping an eye out for migrating whales, wandering through some cool shops along the way, and finally making our way to Lincoln City.

After checking into our hotel, we were ready to do some beach-combing. We wandered up and down the beach looking for glass floats and other treasures until sunset....

What a fabulous day! We slept with the window open, so we could hear the sound of the ocean all night...beats the heck out of sirens, trains, traffic, dogs barking....
slept like a babe.

The next morning, I was awake very early and
this is the lovely sight that greeted me.....
The gorgeous pastel colors of dawn, with that glorious moon over the ocean... so incredibly good for my soul!

I was ready to greet the day with joy and peace in my heart, and a big smile on my face!

I had my morning coffee while sitting by the fire, gazing out the window and listening to the soothing sound of the waves!
Another leisurely, long walk on the beach.....and then a delicious brunch at the
Wildflower Grill
made it all a perfect morning!

Of course, all good things come to an end (to make way for more good things, of course!) So we gradually made our way home...back to the fog.....but with good memories and sunshine in our hearts and minds, ready for the week ahead.

For me, it was a refilling of my creative well....the colors and textures that I see and experience in Nature spill over into my own creative endeavors. I couldn't wait to get back into the studio this morning and begin creating.
For now, I'm thinking that I'd like to paint in beach colors this week....maybe with some moonlight accents....we'll see how it all unfolds!

Until next time ~
