Last week, after a great deal of hard work, I finally moved into my space at Coburg Antique Mall...hooray! Of course, the space is still evolving, but I am happy to have my creations out there for everyone to see! Here is a peek at my space as it is right now...
Can't wait to get back in there
and add some finishing touches!
In the meantime, I am scouting
ideas and trends in another
region...
The French Gypsy is in Louisiana for a week or so, visiting Mom and helping her with some decorating projects. The weather is absolutely gorgeous down here right now...very unusual this time of year! We spent yesterday checking out some of the local shops...very cool stuff! Have a look-see...
Found a very cool little shop, with lots of
goodies... salvaged doors and windows, as well as metal goods and hardware. Left with a handmade painted metal fleur de lis for my shop.
Next stop was a place called 505 Bazaar...very cool place! This place imports great handmade furniture from India and Bali. The pieces are made from old structures, doors, Balinese antiques, boat wood, etc. Great designs and patina on the pieces. You can check out their story and designs at www.505imports.com ...awesome designs and very friendly employees.
Look at the finishes on these pieces! Gorgeous patina...very rustic and heavy pieces. Love the way they repurpose parts of old buildings to make these great pieces.
Another style to the left.
Very smooth, silky finish...
love the colors!
Now this little beauty
was found in a modern
furniture store. I suspect it's
not hand-crafted, but what
a price-tag! Lovely, all the
same.
Today was a different story-time to get to those decorating projects. Well, how much fun we had! Crowbars and hammers...ahhh, demolition can be such fun. We stepped into our "Demolition Diva" personalities and knocked out a dividing wall between the family room and dining room. In the process we created a fantastic open space.
Forgot to snap a pic of what we started with, but here's what it looked like after we got the bottom wall torn off. What a difference! Much more open and inviting! Mom is very happy with the results-hooray! Tomorrow, we break out the paintbrushes and rollers...stay tuned!
Until then...
The French Gypsy
