Looking for Artistic Inspiration in Nature

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by! I have a question for all of you....

Do you ever look for, and ultimately find, artistic inspiration in Nature?

Just stop for a minute and think about the ever-changing palette of shapes, textures, and colors that Mother Nature presents to us on a daily basis. Think about the endless color combinations...Wow!

As an artist, I find that often I don't have to look very far to find inspiration....just go for a walk....or take a drive...or look out a window...

One morning recently, as I was driving my son to school, I noticed tiny little patches of blue sky peeking through the grayish-white puffy clouds. What a gorgeous shade of blue...and how nicely the shades of white and gray complemented the blue. It occurred to me that those colors would look fantastic together on a piece of painted and distressed furniture. Maybe a base coat of Mama's Boy blue from the van Gogh chalk paint collection, peeking through a top coat of Chivalry gray...hmmm, sounds lovely!

Another time, as we traveled down to see the Redwoods in northern California, we came across a river that was the most incredible shade of bluish-green that I have ever seen. It looked like liquid jewels sparking in the sunlight. The incredible depth of color was amazing!

I just wanted to paint something in that color...

or design a gorgeous piece of jewelry...

I've got to have this color!!!

So, the next time you're looking for a little inspiration for your artistic endeavors, remember...you don't have to go far. Just step outside and look to the master designer,,,Mother Nature. She's always got her creative groove going on!

Just think of the endless possibilities!

                                                                                                    Until next time...Varina
